Description:  Lay-off and shoot finishing drill.

Application: Final combinations of passes before shots around the 18-yard box.

Instructions

1. The Coach plays a pass to the opening up Red Player.

2. After opening up and receiving the pass, the Red Player dribbles to, and around the top cone.

3. The Red Player plays a pass to the coach through the opposite side (from the direction they came) middle gate.

4. The Red Player then runs through the other middle gate (the closer one to the side they came), and receives a lay-off pass from the coach.

5. The Red Player takes a shot on goal and moves to the other side of the grid to go again.
   

Setup

• Multiple balls ready at the middle cone for the coach (or other player).

• Triangle of four cones:

  • Three cones in a line, 3 feet apart.

  • One top cone, 2-3 yards away from the rest.
    

Rotation

• Attack on both sides then switch the passer (if not using a coach passer).

Coaching Points

• Can pass, toss, or bounce the initial pass to the Red Player.

• Make 1 or 2 touch.

• Quick turn at the top cone.

• Picking up speed then shooting with accuracy on target.
