Possession Crossing Lanes

Players: 12+ | Difficulty: 1 |

Description:  Team vs Team possession to goal with crossing lanes.

Application: Players moving into outside space and picking a cross / pass.

Instructions

1. Normal team vs team to goal.

2. The team in possession of the ball must score from an outside player.

3. Any player can move outside the grid to receive and then cross/pass the ball to score.

4. BUT ONLY ONE PLAYER AT A TIME CAN BE OUTSIDE.

5. The player must move into that space, receive a pass, and decide if they want to:

   1. Cross the ball.

   2. Play a pass for the player to shoot.

   3. Recycle the ball through the middle/back.
      

Setup

• Grid with goals.

Rules

• The goal must be scored from an outside player's assist.

• Only one player can be outside at once.

• There is no defending in the outside grid.
  

Coaching Points

• Since players cant be defended outside, make sure they train their eyes to learn to find all their options.

• Since a goal can only be scored by an outside assist, the team must keep possession until an opportune moment arises.

• The coach can put a touch/time limit on the outside.

• Make sure players provide the outside player with options other than JUST crosses.
