Possession With Outsides

Description: Team vs Team possession to goal with outside pass options.
Application: Players scanning to utilize all passing options.
Instructions
Normal team vs team to goal.
The third team plays as outside passers for the team in possession.
Setup
Grid with goals.
Lots of balls.
Rules
Outside players can not score.
Outside players only have 1 or 2 touches (coach decide).
Winner stays. The outside team switches with the losing team.
Inside players CAN NOT go outside.
Coaching Points
Since outside players cant be defended, make sure they are ready to play quick passes with the team in possession.
Make sure the inside players utilize their extra passing options.
The defenders must learn to use their body to eliminate as many passing options/lanes as possible.
Make sure players keep a shape/position in their teams.
For Youth Coaching:
This drill can help the outside players learn to scan better without the pressure of players running at them.
