Players: 2+ | Difficulty: 2 |
Description: 1v1 deception while a receiving pass
Application: Hesitation and faints leading to a quick first touch when receiving a pass.

Instructions

Player A and B step into the middle of the pitch.
A and B pass back and forth.
Player A is the attacker, and will initiate the drill.
Whenever Player A wants, they will dribble to either goal to score.
Player B will move to defend.
Rules

Player A and B will pass until Player A takes a touch towards a goal.
Players can only score from within the orange cone grids (so no first time shooting).
The attacking player can reverse and attack the other goal.
If the defensive player steals the ball, they become the attacker.
The round is over once a player scores or the ball goes out of play.
Setup

10x10yd grid (or so).
Divided into "thirds", but the middle third is the widest.
2 Pug goals.
2 Exterior cones for lines (Defense side, Attack side.).
Rotation

Players switch lines.
Coaching Points

While receiving the passes, the attacker should use hesitation, faints, fakes, any other styles of movement to get the initial advantage.
First touch propels the player into space.
Attacker waits for the opportune moment to go (when the defender is flat footed).
Defender stays ready, and on their toes.
