Cut Back Pass

Players: 4+ | Difficulty: 2 |

Description:  Finishing a cut back through ball.

Application: Timing runs & drawing out defenders.

Instructions

1. Player A passes the ball in to the checking Player B.

2. Player B takes a touch inside.

   1. Player C starts their diagonal run towards the back post (through the two imaginary center backs).

3. Player B plays a cut back pass, passing the ball towards goal for C to run on to.

4. Player C takes a shot.
   

Rules

• Player C must stay onsides with Player B.

Setup

• 3 Cones set up in a triangle spread outside the 18yd box (slightly to one side).

Rotation

• A - B - C

Coaching Points

• Can make 1 or 2 touch.

• Player B should be able to turn with their body towards the inside of the field.

• Does Player B step in front of the cone to receive the ball?

• Player C times their run correctly, and adjusts accordingly if the pass is delayed.

• How is the quality of the finish when taking a shot from a through ball?
