Inside Triangle

Description: Dual triangle passing sequence for movement off the ball.
Application: Midfielder movement on and off the ball.

Instructions

There is a small orange triangle within the big red triangle.
Inside triangle players are underlined.
Player A passes the ball to Player B by the high/far cone of the inside triangle.
Player B passes the ball to Player C.
Player C lays the ball off into space for Player A to run on to.
Player C then moves to the open cone in the center triangle, becoming the next "high/far inside player".
Player A passes the ball to Player D, and then runs to take their place. Continuing Cycle For Clarification:
Player D repeats this cycle by passing the ball to the high cone of the inside triangle, Player C.
Player C passes the ball to Player B.
Player B passes the ball into space for Player D to run on to.
Player B then moves to the open cone in the center triangle, becoming the next "high inside player".
Player D passes the ball to Player E, and then runs to take their place.
Setup

2 Triangles: 1 Small triangle of 3 cones within a bigger triangle of 3 cones.
Example Dimensions:
Small Triangle: 6-10yds between cones.
Big Triangle: 15-30yds between cones.
Rotation

Outside: A - D - E
Inside: Player who lays the ball off to outside player moves to the open cone.
Switch players around after every few full rotations.
Coaching Points

Based around a rotating midfield.
The inside players (midfielders) must rotate into new space after playing the close lay-off pass.
Make sure players are opening their body to receive the ball.
Players call for the ball.
Outside Triangle: "Pass to the high inside player, create space, receive the ball and play out".
Inside Triangle: "Pass, Layoff and Get Out of the Space"
For Youth Coaching:
Slow walk-through.
Explain importance of midfielders moving into new space after passing the ball.
