Weak Foot vs One Touch

Players: 3+ | Difficulty: 2 & 3 |


Description: 2v2 with stipulations.


Application: Practice weak foot dribbling, quick passes, and movement off the ball.



Instructions





  1. Line of two teams at the orange cones.

  2. Two players from each team step forward to the edge of the grid and decide which role they will be:

  3. Each team must have:

    1. Player who can only use their weak foot.

    2. Player who can only play one touch.

  4. Coach says "GO" and players sprint to the red cones at the other end of the grid, go around them, and come back into the grid to play.

  5. The coach will play the ball to first person who is back into the grid.

  6. The two teams will play 2v2 to goal with the stipulations in place.


Rules

  • Players must switch being the one touch player and the weak foot player each time.

  • If the ball goes out of play, the coach passes in another ball.

  • Players chase their ball once their round is over.




Setup


  • 2 Starting line cones.

  • 2 Sprint point cones.

  • Rectangular grid.

  • 2 Pug goals.

Rotation


  • Players go to back of their teams line.



Coaching Points




  • Make sure the players are moving off the ball to get open.

  • It may look awkward at times, but let players gain confidence in their abilities.

  • If players accidentally use their other foot / extra touches, make them "freeze" for 3 seconds.


For Youth Coaching:

  • Can eliminate the sprint portion.

  • If players accidentally use their other foot / extra touches, make them "freeze like (an animal)" for 3 seconds.
