Players: 2+ | Difficulty: 3 |
Description: Triangle cone passing route in pairs of two.
Application:
Awareness/Scanning: Players must look for where to dribble next before finishing their current triangle.
Agility: Shuffling across the triangle while performing passes.
Cardio: Players will become tired after multiple triangles paired with the short sprints between them.
Quick Passes: Pass and Move bouncing.
Having Fun: Game-Style training that inspires competitive training.

Instructions

The Yellow and Red Player start at the purple cone. The Yellow has the ball.
They run/dribble to the first triangle set of cones in the route.
The player with the ball (Yellow) starts on the outside, while the other (Red Player) runs to the inside of the triangle.
The Yellow and Red Player exchange passes through the triangle (in,out,in,out,go), following the diagram. The Red Player stays stationary, and acts as a rotating wall for passes from the moving Yellow Player.
After the inside player (Red ) plays the final pass to the outside player (Yellow ), they have to dribble to the next triangle set up on the field.
They will continue the pattern of pass and run until they have finished the last triangle.
Then they will sprint/dribble back to the start and get back in line.
Rules

Players must scan to find the NEAREST set of triangle cones from their current position.
The final pass of each triangle always goes to the initial dribbler.
Setup

Multiple sets of three cones in a small triangle shape
1-2 ft. between cones : 10+ yds between triangles.
Can put "wrong/fake" triangles of different color cones.
Initial cone with balls for players.
Rotation

Players switch roles after each go through.
Coaching Points

For increased difficulty: you can put "wrong/fake" triangles of different color cones.
Checking shoulder after passing and receiving to see where to go next without wasting time.
Having the inside player stay on their toes.
The outside player continuing to shuffle on their toes and scan with their eyes despite fatigue growing.
