Pass and Open Square

Players: 3/4+ | Difficulty: 2/3 |

Description:  1-2, Open up, Receive and Turn.

Instructions

1. The Blue Player passes to the Yellow Player.

2. The Yellow Player passes back to the Blue Player.

3. Yellow moves out wide, outside of the box of cones.

   1. Blue passes to the opening up Yellow Player.

4. Yellow turns, and passes to the opposite side player outside of the cone.

5. Yellow then runs inside to ask for the ball back.

Rules

• This can be played with two players moving simultaneously (The Red Player in the example).

Setup

• Box of cones 8-15yds apart.

• Balls starting with the outside players.

Rotation

• The 1-2 Inside players switch with the outside passers after X amount of repetitions.

Coaching Points

• Can make 1 or 2 touch.

• Checking shoulder after passing and as they are about to receive a pass. (Or as age or skill level allows)

• Focusing on their pass quality.

• Having the central player open their body and step outside the box to receive the #3 pass.

• Quick and efficient turns.
  

For Youth Coaching:

• Just run one middle player at a time.
