Pass and Scan Box

Description: Passing box for scanning and turning.
Application: Checking your shoulder while receiving a pass to know if you have space to turn and play.

Instructions

Player A will be inside the cone box, asking for the ball from the outside player (Player B).
Player C will move to a different side of the box.
Player B will play continuous 1-2 passes with Player A.
Player A will need to keep checking their shoulder to see when Player C has made it to a different side of the box and raises their hand for the ball.
Once Player A notices, they can turn with the ball, or play a first time pass to Player C.
Then Player B will move to a different side of the box and the drill continues.
Rules

The central player must continue to pass with an outside player until they notice the other outside player has raised their hand for the ball.
Setup

Box of cones 5-8yds apart.
1 Player inside the box, 2 outside.
1 Ball per group.
Rotation

Inside player switches out after X amount of successful passes.
Coaching Points

Can make 1 or 2 touch.
Checking shoulder after passing and as they are about to receive a pass (or as age or skill level allows).
Focusing on their pass quality.
Having the central player open their body and step away once they know the turn is on.
Could have the middle player switch out directly after passing to another side (initial outside player takes the inside players spot) as a warmup drill.
